If you see a considerable increase in the traffic to your Internet site and if after you check the visitor statistics it turns out that it comes from locations across the globe or from other servers, your website is more than likely being attacked by an automatic bot. Such programs go through random websites attempting to log in to their admin area by using a brute-force attack or to leave spam comments under any sort of article where this sort of an option is available. Unfortunately, that's something quite popular nowadays, but if you know the IP addresses from which the attacks come, you may block them, so the bots won't be able to access your Internet site in any way. Needless to say, you can block IPs even if you allow only people from particular countries to access your Internet site.
IP Blocking in Website Hosting
If you have a website hosting account with us and you wish to block one or a number of IP addresses, you may use the IP Blocking tool, which is included in our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. By using a rather simple interface, you can stop any IP from accessing your content even if you have not had a web hosting account before. All it takes to do that is to log inside to your CP, to check out the IP Blocking section, to choose a specific domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to enter the IP address. You'll not need to do anything complicated if you'd like to block a whole network - you will simply have to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the whole range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs will be listed in the very same section, so you shall be able to remove any of them from the blacklist with just a mouse click.
