Website Migration
-
Q: What exactly does website migration mean and what does it include?
A: If your current hosting provider can no longer answer the demands of your web site, or when you go through frequent downtime, or if you are made to wait for hours for the tech support team to get back to you, it might be a smart idea to switch your hosting provider, i.e. to transfer all the files for your web sites as well as your databases from your present provider to your new provider. At My Web Bird, we understand that this can be hard and time–consuming. That is why we will accomplish all that for you at no cost! Our proficient technical staff will migrate your website content from your current hosting provider to us. Our technicians have got a lot of experience migrating websites and are able to take care of anything – from a common WordPress–driven blog or Joomla™ CMS–powered website, to a very complex, custom–built web app.
-
Q: How much time will it take for my site to be transferred to your platform?
A: We try to perform all web site migrations as quickly as possible. Nevertheless, we don’t have a fixed time frame for website migrations. There are different aspects that you need to take into consideration – the sheer size of your website and the workload of our web site migration staff, etc. We always try to accomplish each migration in under 48 hours. With smaller–sized web sites, our team typically manages to finish within 24 hours.
-
Q: What info will I be required to provide to your Website Migration Department?
A: We don’t collect any private data. We’ll need, however, the login information for your current hosting account as well as the name of the site that you’d like to transfer.
-
Q: My current hosting account has delicate data inside. How can I rely on you?
A: Our Privacy Policy is an indivisible part of the contract that we will have with you as a client. We are committed to protecting the security of the private info collected from the clients. To do this, we use technical safety measures to avoid the loss, the misuse, the alteration or the illegal leakage of the private data under our control. The safety measures include, but are not limited to: physical, electronic and managerial operations to protect and secure the information that we gather on the web. When we ask clients to provide financial information (for example, a credit card number), this info is shielded using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption method.
-
Q: What about downtime? Will my web site be unavailable?
A: While we move your web site, it will be available both in your web hosting account with us and in your account with your former web hosting provider. Once the transfer is complete, we’ll make certain that everything is functioning properly and that the integrity of your data is not affected before telling you that the migration is done. Then we’ll explain to you how to transfer the domain to your hosting account with us and how to update the DNS settings.
-
Q: Will my present web hosting provider know that I’m leaving them?
A: While we migrate your web content, your hosting provider won’t be aware of the transfer at all. We will not get in touch with them in any way.
-
Q: Which hosting providers can you migrate website content from?
A: Yeah. We support all standard Linux–based hosting platforms. We do not support Windows–driven web hosting platforms, because we do not offer Windows web hosting solutions ourselves. In addition, we do not support proprietary web site creation and management tools like Wix, BaseKit, Jimdo, Website Tonight, Four Square, Mr Site, etc.
